You ask that we offer the grace
That You show us each day,
To all of those who touch our lives
Each step along the way.
It sounds like it should be easy,
But that is so untrue.
In fact, there are days being kind
Is difficult to do.
There are those who try hard to be
As cruel as they can,
Those who will go out of their way
To harm their fellow man.
Perhaps its over points of view,
Or self-righteous outrage.
It could be just a real bad day
Left them with pent up rage.
We may not know what causes it,
But we’ve each felt the blow
Of those who seem to unleash rage
On everyone they know.
How then are we to stand in peace,
Forgive and show them grace,
When it would bring satisfaction
To set them in their place.
You never said only the kind
Deserve kindness and grace,
But Lord, some days it’s really hard
To live that face to face.
Since You have asked, I will obey,
And do so faithfully,
But, Lord, some days I may need You
To firmly remind me!
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, as God in Christ forgave you.
