Advent Week 1: Hope - To Live In Hope

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 You lift my spirits with Your love,

You heal me with Your grace,

And, even in the darkest times,

I’m safe in Your embrace.

 

You taught me how to live in hope,

No matter what I face,

And I will praise Your name with love

However dark the place.

 

Lord, I am grateful for Your love,

Which nothing can replace,

And I will live within the hope

Of Your enduring grace.

 

Romans 12:12

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Advent Week 1: Hope - Overflowing With Hope

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I lifted this day up to You

And asked You for the peace

To help me walk through every storm

That this day would release.

 

I knew what lay ahead for me,

So I reached out to You.

You were the only hope I had

That I would make it through.

 

I asked that You would give me peace

When things were moving fast,

And prayed that I would still know joy

When the tempest had passed.

 

Then as the day whirled up in speed

And I was most dismayed,

I felt, like Your hand on my head,

That peace, for which I’d prayed.

 

I can’t explain that moment, Lord,

Though I am trying to.

I held out hope that You’d be there

When I most needed You,

And, true to form, stress fell away,

As Your peace washed on though.

 

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Advent Week 1: Hope - One King, One Hope

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The world seems scattered to the winds,

One disdains another,

But we are called to remember

To bless and love each other.

 

We’re called to walk in the Spirit,

One body in the Word,

But lately bitterness and spite

Are all that I have heard.

 

I might have given up, Oh Lord,

My King eternally,

Except for the assurance of

The hope You give to me.

 

Though all the world is scattered now

The thing that helps me through

Is holding to the hope I find

Each time I turn to You!
