So many memories stopped by

As I moved through this day.

Some broke my heart in two, once more,

But life can be that way.

 

Others lifted my spirits up

And brought joy to my heart.

There are many that make me smile

Though life drew us apart

 

So many memories stopped by,

Each one a treasured gift.

Even those that brought a few tears

Gave my old heart a lift.

 

I needed time to remember,

Maybe to shed a tear,

But most of all I needed time

When only You were near.
