We’ve
got the carols and the lights
Down
to an art, no doubt.
We’ve
mastered food and family
All
gathering about.
We
even know who’s birth it is
That
we all celebrate,
For
we have set aside the time
In
honor of the date.
But
in the flurry of the songs,
The
feasting and delight,
We
sometimes lose the miracle
That
happened on that night.
It’s
not just that a child was born,
But
that God came to earth
To
redeem those whom He had lost,
Restoring
them to worth.
The
hand that formed the universe
Took
on its weakest face
That
He might restore what we lost
When
mankind fell from Grace.
He
could have come as mighty king
Issuing
the demand
That
we each bow before His throne
And
live at His command.
But
He came first to broken souls,
Whose
lives were harsh and grim,
His
angels bearing songs of praise,
Not
to kings, but to them.
Amongst
the revelries and joy,
We
should take time today
To
ponder what truly occurred
On
that first Christmas day.
Luke
2:19-20
But
Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the
shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and
seen, as it had been told them.
