Contentious Times

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It seems these are contentious times,

But we’ve seen this before.

It’s not a first in history

And we know what’s in store.

 

We’ll have to stand up more than once

And speak the truth out loud

Before the condemnation of

An angry, bitter crowd.

 

We’ll have to learn to speak from love

Or be no better than

Those preaching out of rage and hate

Against their fellow man.

 

It’s not an easy thing to stand

Against the raging throng,

But we are called upon to stand

Against that which is wrong,

 

To shield the weak and lead the lost

Back to His Holy Light.

If we are called to stand for Him,

Then let that be our fight.

 

Psalm 82:4

Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
