When Caesar crossed the Rubicon
History took a turn.
Now we have a river to cross,
Or a bridge we will burn.
When we, also, must choose,
Do we cross over the river
Or burn the bridge, refuse?
History’s due a change,
But there are those who stand to lose
Power in the exchange.
For me, I seek a third option
To joyously pursue.
I plan to walk into the flow,
Living water from You.
This world is wracked by strife,
But it is in His grace alone
That we’ll find a new life.
Nor burn the bridge across.
I’ll stand in the water of life
That pours out from His cross.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out
of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ Now this he said about the
Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit
had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
