Counting Blessings

2 Corinthians 6:4-10
Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

We stand and fight against evil
In every day we live.
We do it with a faith filled heart
And all we have to give.

We know that trouble will find us,
But it won’t find us lost.
And each day brings its sacrifice
But we won’t count the cost.

Instead, we’ll rejoice in the gifts
That life has brought our way
And count our blessings with glad hearts
At the end of each day.

The food we eat, the work we do,
A place to sleep each night.
They may not be a grand affair,
But, for us, they’re just right.

A task to which we turn our hand,
A chance to share The Word,
With those who cherish it with us,
And those who have not heard.

There is no one who walks this earth
Who’s lived life free of care,
For each of us must learn the way
To rise above despair.

Yes, each day will bring its own pains
That we will have to face,
But finding reasons to rejoice
Helps us face them with Grace.
