Psalm 41:4

 

Psalm 41:4

I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

The words are simple, yet they hurt,

“Oh Lord, I know I’ve sinned!”

Try though I might, I’m in despair,

My wickedness won’t end.

Each day I step out with a plan

To walk closer to You,

Yet every day before too long,

That plan has fallen through.

I catch myself with some false deed,

Or words I shouldn’t say,

And suddenly I realize

I’ve failed again today.

I won’t give up, I promise, Lord.

Please don’t give up on me.

I’ll keep trying to walk Your path

And be who I should be,

And I pray from my shame filled heart,

That You will make me whole.

You’ve loved me despite all my sins.

Please heal my broken soul.
