Haven in the Heat

The sun beat down upon the pond,
The water, still and warm,
Gave little haven from the heat,
Which rose beyond the norm.

Yet, at the edge of the small pond,
Beneath a single tree,
There was a shady hide away,
Where they played happily.

The summer heat was everywhere,
But they played with delight.
I felt my heart leap up with joy
At such a precious sight.

It brought to mind the gift of grace
That You have given me,
My own small haven in this world
Where I live joyfully.

This world will offer those hot days,
When we all need some shade,
And I will always be grateful
For this haven You’ve made.

Isaiah 49:10
they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them.

Through It All

Lord, You knew me before my birth,
You called me by my name,
And, since the moment I learned this,
I’ve never been the same.

You loved me through my darkest days
And brought me through despair.
You never left me without hope
For I knew You were there.

I don’t know why You love me so,
But I’m grateful You do.
I don’t think I’d have found my way
If I did not have You.

Psalm 71:5-6
For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother's womb. My praise is continually of you.

My Perfect Light

I lift to You a song of praise
As day draws to a close.
Just as I sang in praise to You
As that same sun last rose.

You are the Light, brighter than dawn,
That endures through the night.
You are my dawn, my bright sunrise,
Lord, You’re my perfect Light.

Psalm 18:28
For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
