Where were You when I walked the path

Of darkness and despair?

You walked the path ahead of me,

You were already there.

Where were You when I had to face

Years of struggle and care?

You gave me strength to carry on,

You were already there.

Where were You when sorrow and grief

Were more than I could bear?

You held me while I wept, then healed,

You were already there.

You go before me in this life,

You’ve seen each trap and snare

And You have led me through each one,

For You’re already there!

The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes
