I
saw You all along the way,
But
not ‘til I looked back.
Until
that moment all I saw
Was
each inbound attack.
I
felt the earth beneath my feet
Rocked
with every travail,
But
from here I can see where You
Helped
all along the trail.
I
never see, while in mid storm,
Anything
but the fray,
But
when I have time to take pause
It’s
clear Your shield held sway.
I
think I’m learning to enjoy
The
troubles I walk through.
Mostly
because, as I now see,
They
keep me close to You.
Psalm
23:4
Even
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for
you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
