False Prophets

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They claim to speak in words of faith,

Self righteous in display,

Yet, like the Pharisees of old,

They’ve truly lost their way.

 

They speak as if they walk they path,

But have wandered away,

Preaching the gospel of the world

With every word they say.

 

They hide their lies behind the screen

Of the pulpit and pew.

They claim respect for heaven’s laws,

While living very few.

 

They lead their flocks so far astray

With all they say and do,

That even those faithful of heart

Risk losing sight of You.

 

Lord, help us see clearly beyond

The lies and disarray

Of those who hide behind the Word

To lead us far astray.

 

Mark 13:5-6

And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray.
