The
words we speak, the thoughts we think,
They
come from down inside,
The
place where we keep all the things
We
try so hard to hide.
It’s
not the poison in the world
That
we need most to fear,
But
all the darkest words and thoughts
That
we tend to hold dear.
The
anger that still bubbles up,
The
envy that we hold,
The
greed that says, “never enough”
Can
turn a spirit cold.
Lord,
lead us from the temptations
Born
in a world of sin,
But
help us guard against those, too,
That
we harbor within.
Mark
7:14-15
And
he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and
understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile
him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”
