Psalm
104:24-25
How
many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of
your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures
beyond number-- living things both
large and small.
I’m
awed by mountains soaring tall,
The
thunderclouds that rise,
But,
even more, the birds and beasts
Still
take me by surprise.
The
fearsome eagle sweeping past,
The
fox in the twilight,
The
whales that leap up from the waves
Then
settle out of sight.
How
awesome is the hand of God,
How
complex His design?
For
every creature, great or small,
Was
touched by the Divine.
They
number more than I can know
And
fill the air and seas,
Yet
each one answers to His plan
With
simple faith and ease.
How
can they be more faithful than
The
wayward sons of man?
Were
we not formed by the same Grace,
Part
of the same great plan?
And
yet we question every day,
Challenging
the command
Of
Him, who breathed life into all,
Who
shaped us by His hand?
He gave us knowledge, and the truth,
And
the option to choose.
Yet
still we foolishly opt to
Pursue
what we must lose.
We
cannot keep the wealth or fame
That
we so often crave,
For
all that we gather on earth
We
leave beside the grave.
So,
while You gave us knowledge, Lord,
Help
us, also, to see
That
living life within Your plan
Is
where we want to be.
