Luke
22:19-20
And
he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is
my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after
the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which is poured out for you.
“Do
this in remembrance of me”.
Just
a simple request,
Yet
all the world remembers Him
And
honors that behest.
We
recall, when He walked this earth,
He
came to show the way
To
those who loved Him faithfully,
And
those who’d gone astray.
He
came to lift the broken soul
And
mend the shattered heart.
He
came to give those who gave up,
Hope,
and a brand new start.
But
more than all of these, He came
To
wash the sins of man
And
redeem those who call on Him,
In
answer to God’s plan.
He
walked the road to certain death.
Though
He lived a pure life,
He
died for a world washed in sin
And
filled with hate and strife.
He
chose to do what we could not,
And
answer for our sin.
He
brought the redemption that we
Could
never hope to win.
And
so, we honor his request,
Because
He asked us to.
And
we praise Him, who is the path
That
leads us home to You.
