Keeping Watch

I watch for You in day’s first light

As You’ve asked me to do,
And when the evening breezes rise
I expect to see You.
 
I linger right beside the door
In case You might be near,
And listen for the whisper of
Your voice within my ear.
 
Each minutes means You have not come,
At least You haven’t yet,
But I am watchful, as You’ve asked,
And I will not forget.
 
I know that You will come for me
But I do not know when.
So I will keep watch for You, Lord,
And I will see You then.

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
