The Words of My Mouth

Oh Lord, so often we speak first
And think it through too late.
How much less harm our words could do,
If we’d just hesitate.

Oh Lord, teach me to guard my thoughts
That, when my words follow,
They’re filled with kindness and with love,
And are not harsh and hollow.

Oh Lord, let Your Word be my guide
In all I say and do.
Let my words reflect the same grace
That I receive from You.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Children of Light

So softly, in the tranquil night,
I hear Him speak to me
In words my soul can understand,
Not my humanity.

Words of peace, of faith in trial,
Of learning to walk on
When even the small light of hope
Has burned out and is gone.

His words that speak to me of love
Too great to comprehend,
A love born before time began,
A love that will not end.

The world is filled with troubles, yes,
And it will always be,
But my soul hears what this world can’t,
And His Word lives in me.

Ephesians 5:8
for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
