It's Your Choice

We choose the path that we will walk,
For He gives us that choice.
He offers us the chance to rage
Or rise up and rejoice.

He did not form the soul of man
To serve unthinkingly,
But gives us each the heart and mind
To choose who we shall be.

We are His children by His choice,
But we, too, get to choose.
Having seen both paths in this life,
I know which one I’ll use.

 Matthew 9:9
As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.

A Day of Rest

The weeks grow busier it seems
Or I am growing old,
But either way by Sabbath’s sun
I’m wearier, than bold.

I’m grateful for a day of rest,
Of peace and joyful praise.
There may be only one a week,
But they’re my choicest days.

The new week will start soon enough,
And I will see it through,
But I’m grateful for one day’s rest
And time to spend with You.

Genesis 2:2
And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.

Right On Course

Nothing about today went right,
At least not by my plan,
But everything worked perfectly
Outside the reach of man.

The sun rose up, the flowers bloomed,
The inlet sparkled bright.
Now dusk is settling itself
Into a quiet night.

The ebb and flow of every day
Is perfectly on course.
It needs no direction from me,
For it has its own source.

It’s hard to find reason to gripe
If little things aren’t right
When all the heavens and the earth
Still move within His Light.

 Isaiah 45:12
I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.
