The Wrong Focus

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sometimes I get in my own way

And that is never good.

I find that I can get sidetracked

From doing what I should.

 

I focus on the plans I make

Forgetting it’s Your plan

That I should be focusing on,

While doing all I can.

 

I find that my best intentions

Often go far astray,

But when I focus on Your will

Things work out the right way.  

 

Lord, help me keep my eyes on You

And work within Your will.

Remind me that, while I make plans,

I am Your servant still.

 

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

In Bitter Troubles, Joy

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This life is not an easy thing,

It wasn’t meant to be,

But with the troubles that we face

We also find mercy.

 

We struggle through the bitter times,

We weep, we quake with fear,

Without once pausing to recall

That He is always near.

 

He waits to answer when we call.

We cannot go so far

That He won’t hear a heartfelt prayer

And find us where we are.

 

It doesn’t matter the troubles

That this life makes us face,

For He will always hold us close

And lift us in His grace.

 

This life will never be easy,

But when it’s cold and grim,

Remember help is within reach

When you reach out to Him.

 

Psalm 71:20

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.

Let Your Praises Rise

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lift up your voice to heaven’s Lord,

And let your praises rise.

Let all the voices of the earth

Fill up heaven’s vast skies.

 

Sing praises to the Lord in joy

Let every heart rejoice,

For He is King of all the world

And He will hear each voice.

 

Let every heart that calls Him Lord,

Praise Him with great delight.

The Shepherd knows each of His sheep

And guards them with His might.

 

Lift up your voices to the Lord,

All creatures of the earth,

And praise the name of Him who still

Loves us beyond our worth!
