A Bouquet of Love

I felt a tear of frustration
Welling up in my eye,
I couldn’t get anything done
No matter how I’d try,
Then all my frustrations spilled out,
But in each tear I cried
I noticed a bouquet of blooms
Was nestled deep inside.

I could not fathom what it meant,
Each drop contained such bliss,
As if God somehow understood
That something was amiss.
I felt His love fill up my heart.
I wiped my tear streaked face,
Collecting each bright tear bouquet
He’d sent as His embrace.

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Spreading Joy

The bee moves quickly, bloom to bloom,
Collecting, as it goes,
The pollen that each blossom needs
To help their new blooms grow.

I’m often like that little bee,
I gather joy each day,
That I can then share with the world
That I pass on my way.

To gather love and give it back,
To share joy, is my gift.
And there are those who need them both
To give their hearts a lift.

So let me be as busy, Lord,
As that small, golden bee,
For there are “blossoms” everywhere
Who need a bee like me.

Small victories

Some days it’s in the little things
That we claim victory;
A smile where only pain had been
Is such a gift to see;

A simple meal with one whose time
On earth is nearly past,
That you might have one extra day
Of memories that last.

A hand squeezing your own hand back
Can be blessed gift;
A moment when your name’s recalled
Might give your heart a lift.

We all have times within our lives
When sorrow looms too near,
But it’s a gift of God’s great love
To hold onto what’s dear.

So take your victories each day
And wipe away each tear,
For joy’s a crown that God bestows
On those who hold it dear.

Psalm 149:4
For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.

The End of the Path

The way was dark and lost in shade,
It seemed I’d hit a wall.
In great despair, I sat and wept.
I’d given it my all.

There, in my moment of despair,
I heard a voice call me.
“Rise up, my child, and carry on,
Don’t fear that which you see.

That’s not a dead end in your path,
The road there makes a bend.
If you will follow it in faith
You’ll find me at its end.”

So I rose up and carried on,
Beyond the rock’s sheer face,
For I know that, however dark,
I’m walking in His Grace.

Hebrews 11
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

My Faith, My Doubt

I pray in faith, with perfect calm,
For people I don’t know,
Yet just today, for a loved one,
I quaked and trembled so.

I found myself doubting your strength
To handle the problem,
Until I heard my calmer side
Say, “Place your trust in Him.”

I knew that you would see it through,
But I feared for him so.
I found that there’s still variance
In faith and “what I know”.

I knew that you would hold him close
Beneath the surgeon’s knife,
But my faith wobbled when I thought
That he might lose his life.

It seems that half of me has faith
And half of me has doubt,
But all of me is confident
You’ll help me work it out.

Simplicity and Light

So simple, in its garb of brown,
Beside the blossom bright,
And yet its simple aspect warms
Within the morning light.

For that light comes from God’s own hand,
Transforming the mundane
Into a perfect elegance
That is no longer plain.

Thus, too, the Word of God transforms
Our simple daily plight
Into a life spent growing more
Resplendent in His sight.

Psalm 119:130
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

I Heard You Call

I heard you calling me one dawn,
But I turned away.
What you were asking me to do
Was far out of my way.

I heard you calling me one noon,
But I turned away.
I had my heart set somewhere else
And I was off to play.

I heard you calling me one dusk,
But I turned away,
For you expected more of me
Than I would give that day.

Then in the darkness of the night,
When all my fears held sway,
I called to you through anguished tears.
You did not turn away.

So now I rise with each new dawn
And listen, while I pray,
To hear your voice calling to me.
I smile and turn your way.

Romans 2:4
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Judging Worth

Judge not the mighty by their strength,
The lovely by their face;
Do not assume the small or weak
Will fall back in the race.

For, though the mighty seem so strong,
Their strength is born of man,
And those whose strength is born of God
Can do more than most can.

They may look humble when you pass,
Barely glancing their way,
Yet they may make the difference
For all of us someday.

So do not judge your fellow man
By standards formed on earth,
But try to see them through God’s eyes
To understand their worth.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Immersing Myself in You

I long to spend more time with You
Seeking Your holy face,
But often I have found my life
Sets me a busy pace.

I plan to linger in Your Word,
But there’s so much to do,
And so I have less quiet time
That I can spend with You.

Please help me make the time each day
To sit within Your peace
In hopes that I grow more like You
And, the world’s pace, release.

I know that there’s a difference
Between You, Lord, and me;
Let me immerse myself in You
Til that line’s hard to see.

John 7:38
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.

Pass It On

You’ve blessed me so abundantly,
Help me to pass it on.
Let me find ways to share the Grace
Before my chance is gone.

Don’t let me keep it to myself,
Grace grows when it is shared.
And nothing feels as good as when
You’ve shown someone you cared.

I know I’m not that well to do,
But I’ve enough to spare
For someone who has even less.
When needed, I’ll be there.

So let me thank you, one more time,
For all you’ve given me,
And for the chance to pass it on
To someone more needy.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
