Brokenhearted, Yet Again

How do we bear up under grief?
That weight shatters the heart,
And shrouds it in a darkened veil
That joy can’t draw apart.

There is no strength that can prevail
Which finds its root in man,
But, in the grace and peace of Christ,
We find the strength which can.

Oh, Lord, I give to You my heart,
Shattered once more by life,
I pray that You would heal the wounds
And tears that run so rife.

I place my faith in the promise
That You are close to me
In times of sorrow, as in joy,
And I’ll wait patiently

To feel the comfort of Your grace,
My broken heart to mend.
The only healing that will work
Is Your love, without end.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
