I wasn’t there when You rode by
To sing with joy in praise,
But I can still sing out in joy
And thankful praises raise.
For I was on Your mind that day,
As You rode toward death,
And despite the cheers of the crowd,
You numbered each last breath.
Yet, You did not turn back that day,
You chose to ransom me
And pay the price for all my sins
With Your own misery.
No, I was not there in that crowd,
But I was on Your heart,
And that alone is cause for joy,
So let the praising start!
Luke 19: 37-38
As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount
of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God
with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed
is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the
highest!”
