Being Cocky

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We call him Lord, and praise His name,

Then go about our day.

Forgetting we should walk in Him

Each step along the way.

 

We take the path that’s familiar   

The one we always walk.

We know it well, or so we think,

There is no need to balk.

 

Until the path we thought we knew

Turns troublesome and grim,

Then suddenly we realize

How much we still need Him.

 

The arrogance with which we live

When we are off our knees

Can hardly offer up to God

A spirit that will please.

 

We have been called to walk in Him,

So rooted in His Word,

That even life’s most painful paths

Will leave us undeterred.

 

Colossians 2:6-7

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
