The water lay like darkened glass,
While all the trees stood still.
Yet, there it came, with billowed sail,
Moving as if by will.
But, that is not how sailboats run,
They dance upon the wind,
And if the wind is reticent,
Then all dancing will end.
Though I saw neither sign nor trace
Of wind upon the bay,
That boat was sailing boldly through
And dancing on its way.
So is it with the hand of God.
Though how, we may not see,
His mercy carries us forward
As sailboats on the sea.
His mercy keeps us on the move
Rejoicing in the wind
That comes from Him who’s loving grace,
Though unseen, will not end!
Lamentations 3:22
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies
never come to an end
