Psalm
24:1-3
The
earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for
he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the
mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
I
always feel closest to You
When
I stand in the wild.
While
crowds and chaos will leave me
Feeling
lost and defiled.
But
when I stand within the woods,
Or
walk a windy shore,
The
harried world that troubles me,
There,
troubles me no more.
For
I am closer to You there
Than
anywhere on earth,
And
standing midst Your handiwork
Reminds
me of my worth.
I’m
not as tall as those old trees
Nor
vast as the great sea,
But,
like them, I must have value
Since
You breathed life in me.
I
may not change the face of earth
As
wind and sea will do.
Nor
am I likely to endure
What
mountains stand up to.
I
might be just a speck of light
That
brushes an old tree,
But
if my light is born in You
That’s
all I need to be.
So,
lead me to the sacred place.
Let
silence fill my soul,
Until
I hear Your voice, Oh Lord,
And
I am, once more, whole.
