I
rose to go and sit beside
The place where He was laid
When He was broken for my sins
And, with His life, had paid.
I went to weep, but I found joy
Was waiting at His grave,
For He had risen, as He’d said,
My broken life to save.
He lay not in the barren earth,
His body torn in death.
He stood, instead, before my eyes,
As real as life and breath.
The darkness of the endless night,
Where I had dwelt alone,
Fell back before His holy face
As He rose to His throne.
Matthew 28:5-6
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said
