Burn Brightly

I watch the fire dancing blithely,

Frolicking in sweet delight.
Its flame burning with such passion
That it might hold back the night.
 
But I know that by tomorrow
It will be a memory.
Fading away like a shadow,
Forgotten even by me.
 
Thus is it with each life also,
Today’s all that we can claim.
For tomorrow is not promised,
Though we live life in His name.
 
Therefore let your life shine brightly,
Burning to hold back the night,
Living so that when life’s over
Heaven still treasures your light.
