Looking Up

I climbed as high as I could climb

To catch a glimpse of You.
I wanted to see heaven from
An unobstructed view.
I turned my eyes toward the stars
Hoping I might see through
All of the sinful things I’ve done
That block my view of You.
 
I could not see You, though I climbed
As high as I could be,
But somehow, in my heart, I knew
That You could still see me.
So I stood there, within Your sight,
And prayed someday I’d see
The face of Christ, who knows my sins,
Yet died to set me free.
