Perfection is overrated,
I say this without doubt or pause.
For, though we strive for perfection
Our beauty shines out in our flaws.
Petals that don’t match the others,
That curve where they out to have swirled;
The hair we’ve struggled to straighten
That stubbornly still ends up curled,
The leaf that turned golden yellow
But never quite made it to red,
The task that should be completed
That’s only half finished instead.
I know I’ll never be perfect,
But I don’t think I’m a disgrace;
I savor my imperfection,
For I am perfected by grace.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
