The little petals dropped to earth
And splashed upon the floor
Like raindrops dripped through rainbow skies,
Their colors still they bore.
They’ve lost their link to all that lives,
Like petals gone before,
And yet they offer still their joy
Scattered there on the floor.
Thus I, in moments of defeat,
Will take up their small chore
And try to cast some joy around,
Though my heart’s on the floor.
