Abiding In Him

Each time I tried to write this praise,
The world got in my way,
So, I stepped away from the world
To listen and to pray.

Within that silence I could hear
Your Word speaking to me
Over the chaos of the world.
As it was meant to be.

I know I’m not the only one
The world seeks to distract
From what You most want me to hear,
Your Word, clear and intact.

I don’t pray that You remove me
From this world’s frenzied pace,
But that I learn to not get lost
In the course of the race.

Let me keep my eyes fixed on You,
My heart fixed on Your Word,
And, when I need to hear Your voice
Let it be all that’s heard.

Tonight I thank You for the chance
To set the world aside
And let Your Word take root in me,
Forever to abide.

John 17:15-17
I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from evil. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

John 15:9
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
