When the chaos crashed around me

felt such great dismay,
That I thought I would not recover
Before the coming day.
Then I heard, amidst the turmoil,
A voice speak up to say,
“Be still, my child, for I am here.
I’ll listen while you pray.”
So, I settled right where I was,
In fear and disarray,
To find the still place in my heart
Where I know that You stay.
And, though chaos whirled around me,
I felt it slip away,
For You were there, arms around me;
All my fears to allay.
1 Kings 19:12
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
