An Emptiness to Fill

I rushed from place to place all day,

Never once sitting still,
And in all of that hurried rush
I worked hard to fulfill
The goals that I had set myself…
While ignoring Your will.

Thus, as I came to this day’s end,
I felt a growing chill.
I realized that I had failed,
Despite all of my skill,
To do the one thing You’d asked me…
Be with You and be still.

Oh Lord, I pray it’s not too late,
That You’ve time for me still.
I have a well of emptiness
That only You can fill.
I need Your peace more than I knew,
And, Lord, I always will.

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
