Thank You's

For the bill that came in today
That I’d already paid
Thank you
For the earrings I thought were lost
But were merely mislaid
Thank you
When I was too tired to cook
The dinner was all made
Thank you
For the buddy just passing by
Who saw my tears and stayed
Thank you

For all the things that just went wrong
So many more went right.
So let my heart hold those bright gifts
And reflect back their light.
Thank you!

Learning To Shake It Off

Today was just too much to take,
It started before dawn,
And here I am, well past sunset
And it’s still going on!!!

From one disaster to the next
The hits came on and on.
I thought I’d cleared the air at last,
But it was far from gone.

I started to give in to them,
I almost heard them scoff,
But I decided not to cave;
I rose and shook them off!

There’s only so much trouble found
In any day I’m told,
And if you shake it off and laugh,
Those troubles can’t take hold.

So, when the world comes down on you,
Jump out of that deep trough,
Toss up your head and spread your wings
And boldly shake it off!!!

Alone in the Winter

Sometimes I feel so all alone,
Though my life is quite full.
I don’t have a hard road to walk
Or too much load to pull,
But I live in a quiet place
Down by a winter sea
Where all the world has turned to gray
And there’s no one but me.
For all the friends who once played here
Have long since flown away
To warmer climes and busy lives,
But I can’t go away.

Still I have food to keep me fed
And a safe place to sleep,
And I feel so ungrateful when
I feel like I could weep.
So I will concetrate again,
On all the joy life brings
And try to focus myself less
On such unthankful things.

Luke 2:8-11

Touched by the twinkling little lights,
She gazes past the tree;
Reflecting on another time,
A place near Galilee,
Another child, who watched the sheep,
And saw the twinkling light
That mingled with the angel’s songs
On that first Christmas night.

What did that other little child
Believe had come to pass
As he sat trembling while his sheep
Munched quietly the grass
That ruffled in the sudden breeze
Of all those angel wings?
And did he understand their songs
Announced the king of kings?

Luke 2: 8-11
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Despite the Darkness

I think that it’s the darkness or
The chill that’s in the air,
For I am finding it so hard
To lift my heart and care,
But then I think of that small child,
Born in the winter air,
And suddenly my heart is full
Enough that I can share!

Please let me hold this lighter heart
Throughout these winter days
And let me fill the darkness with
The springtime’s joyful praise.

Getting Through the Day

I thank you for the little things
That carried me through this day;
The morning mists that shroud my world,
The sun that burns them away;
The ducks that gather on the tides
And sun diamonds on the bay;
The spider's web sparkling with mist,
It's brightly glittering prey;
And thank you for the kindness of
The people you sent my way,
For it is all these things and more
That made this the perfect day!

Always on My Wing

When the day has been just too long,
With all the chaos it can bring,
It’s good to know that you’re right there
Close by and flying on my wing.

I think I’m strong, I carry on,
When I’m sad I still try to sing,
But getting through is easier
When you are flying on my wing.

So thank you for your faithfulness,
For being there through everything,
But most of all thank you, Dear Lord,
For always staying on my wing.

Isaiah 30:26

The winter skies were filled with gloom
Until your love broke through
And in the softly clearing clouds
I caught a glimpse of you.

Though briefly did you touch the skies
That long had known but rain,
Stil I will watch each gath’ring storm
Til I see you again.

Isaiah 30:26
The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the LORD binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.

The Day the Rains Ceased

For, lo, the sun broke through the clouds
And all the air was bright;
The promise of forgiveness filled
Their damp, beleaguered sight.
They watched the clouds, wrung dry of rain,
Dissolving in mid flight
And praised the lord, not for rain’s cease,
But for the growing light.

Genesis 8:
2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky.

You Love Me More

Silently I count the stars
That fill the nighttime sky;
Each of them you know by name,
You laid the path they fly,
You guide them in their travels,
You hear them when they cry.
Yet for all that devotion
You lived so I won’t die.

Psalm 8:3-4
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
