Tears and Memories

The memories of loved ones lost
Have filled my thoughts today.
It seems as if each place I turned
I found them in my way.

I really didn’t mind, at first.
The joyful memories
Came flooding back into my heart
Like a warm summer breeze.

But each one reminded me of
The grief that I had known,
Until the breeze became a gale,
And I was tossed and blown.

I know that these days will happen,
Life can leave us forlorn.
Yet, I found comfort in knowing
That those lost, are re-born.

So, I will dry these pointless tears
Knowing You’ll see me through
Until I stand with them again
In lifting praise to You!

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Just Being Still

I stayed much busier today
Than I had meant to be,
But now I’m setting time aside
For only You and me.

I find myself anguishing, Lord,
On that which now is past.
Although those sins are forgiven,
For me, the stains still last.

It is as if my life’s been marked
By both darkness and light.
And though I’ve chosen life with You,
I can’t make past wrongs right.

I wanted to spend time with You,
To be still and just know,
That though I have doubts about me,
I know You love me so.

I know the past that torments me
Has been washed clean by Grace,
But sometimes I just need to be
With You in a still place.

 Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Learning To Shine

I heard the darkness say to me
That I would fall today,
But I refused to answer it
And, instead, chose to pray.

I lifted up my voice in joy,
I claimed His peace as mine.
I walked in faith that, by His Grace,
My better me would shine.

I’m not a perfect Child of Grace,
But this much I do know,
Living life within His Light
Is the best way to grow!

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
