In Looking Back

 

I feel as if I’ve been off track
The past few days or so.
I’ve struggled to keep my eyes fixed
On where I’m meant to go.
 
I haven’t really gone astray,
Overwhelmed is the phrase
That I think best describes my mind
During the past few days.
 
Though I may have lost sight of You,
I know You’ve kept Your eye
Upon Your wayward servant, Lord.
For I’ve felt You nearby.
 
I heard You tell me, take a breath,
And felt Your peace wash through.
Though I was running circles, Lord,
I’m now at rest in You.
 
As I look back, I recognize
That You were always near.
I simply needed to be still
To hear You loud and clear.

I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.
