The moon grew dark within the night,
And yet I knew no fear,
For, though the night was way too dark,
I knew that you were near.
The end may seem to loom and grow,
But still I understand;
I do not fear the coming night,
You hold me in your hand.
For, if all light can disappear,
Leaving the moon’s bright face,
And yet it can return next day
How can I doubt your grace?
Thus in the darkest hour of need,
When all my hopes are lost,
I know that I will see your light
For you have paid that cost.
Ecclesiastes 12
1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—
2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—
2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
