You spoke to me this afternoon,
Acknowledging my prayer.
I was startled that you took time
To answer me right there.
How many voices call your name?
They call you day and night.
To many needs, you must attend,
And many wrongs make right.
In all the voices of the world,
My voice is oh so small,
And yet you heard me when I spoke
And answered to my call.
I’m but a leaf in a vast wood,
A ripple on the sea,
And yet you took a moment, Lord
Just to acknowledge me.
How weighty is the work of God
And greatly in demand,
Yet you reached out when I called you
And touched me with your hand.
